HOISTWAY have successfully negotiated the contract to full replace 3 of the existing lifts in the Colston Tower in the centre of Bristol, including the two lifts that serve the tower itself. After carrying out a full condition report and traffic analysis of the tower and podium lifts, HOISTWAY offered several solutions to solve the issues the building had with the only having two lifts in a 19 storey, multi occupancy building. With a set budget and two very tired lifts, HOISTWAY’s full replacement solution will, not only increase the size of the lift cars, to become fully disabled access compliant but will also be increasing the sped of the lifts from 2.0m/s to 3.0m/s to make them some of the fastest lifts in Bristol. To increase traffic flow, and reduce landing waiting times, HOISTWAY will be utilising our brand new high speed, low energy lift range coupled with our state of the art, Direct To Floor control. This will decrease the slowing times into floor and increase acceleration out of floor by calculating the optimum speed the lifts can run at between calls / stops. Once complete these lifts will not only increase the ride comfort for the passengers but reduce landing waiting times, thus improving the efficiency of the building.
