Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995.
This legislation provided disabled persons with new rights. From October 2004, the revised M2 Building Regulations have placed a duty on all organisations to remove physical barriers created in buildings, whether new or old.

Implications:-
Building owners, managing agents and service providers need to be compliant with all aspects of the legislation from October 2004. At Hoistway we can advise you about every aspect of compliance and guide you to the correct solution for your individual needs.

Which Solution?
The latest regulations under M2 should have produced definitive solutions to disabled access. However, as a customer, when you read the relevant legislation, the picture becomes less clear! Interpreting which type of unit would meet the compliance criteria is the biggest issue. All options provide differing levels of compliance at significantly differing costs! Nobody wants to be in the position where they have spent money on compliance only to find that the local enforcement authority decides that the implemented solution was incorrect i.e. that ‘reasonable consideration’ has not been given or that definitive M2 clauses have not be adhered to.

At Hoistway
our approach is different. We give you sufficient information to make your own choice of the product that will provide the solution to your access problems. We have a full range of conventional lifts as well as platforms, so our guidance will be both constructive and unbiased. Our knowledge of the relevant legislation is extensive and your contact will have over 20 years experience of the lift industry to draw upon!
